The video, which went viral on social media platforms on Monday, depicts a young man arguing and potentially abusing Jain monks seated by the roadside. The specific location and origin of the video were initially unclear.

Uttarakhand administration takes stringent action

Responding to the public outcry generated by the video, the Uttarakhand administration sprang into action. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed DGP Abhinav Kumar to investigate the matter thoroughly.

STF investigation identifies accused

The STF investigation swiftly identified the location of the incident as Tota Valley near Devprayag police station in Tehri Garhwal district. They further established that the video was filmed by a young man named Suraj Singh.

Case registered against accused

Based on the investigation's findings, authorities registered a case against Suraj Singh at Devprayag police station. The charges include promoting enmity between different groups (IPC Section 153A), deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings (IPC Section 295A), and publishing or transmitting obscene content in electronic form (IT Act Section 67A).

Zero tolerance for disrespectful behavior

DGP Abhinav Kumar emphasized the police department's commitment to protecting the interests of all religious communities. He declared a "zero-tolerance" policy for such disrespectful acts, stating, "no such person will be spared."

Jain community expresses anger

The viral video triggered a wave of anger and condemnation among Jain followers and the wider public. Many social media users expressed their outrage and demanded action against the accused.
