Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on 2-day-visit to Assam, today took  elephant and a jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park. He is the second Prime Minister of the country to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kaziranga National Park.

Narendra Modi took the elephant safari, which was followed a jeep safari inside the Mihimukh area, located within the National Park's Central Kohara range.

About PM Modi's 2-day-visit

He will also inaugurate the 'Statue of Velour' of legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan in Jorhat in the afternoon. The PM will then proceed to Meleng Meteli Pothar, also in Jorhot district, where he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of both central and state projects worth around Rs 18,000 crore. 
He will also inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects strengthening the health, oil and gas, rail and housing sectors.

Kaziranga National Park has emerged as a popular holiday spot. It attracts tourists from all over the country and the world. More than 2200 Indian one-horned rhinoceros live in Kaziranga.
