Amid the political turmoil in the state, the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress, who were relocated to Hyderabad as a precautionary measure ahead of the impending floor test in the state, have now made their way back to Jharkhand on Sunday. A video shared by the news agency ANI captured the MLAs arriving at Shamshabad airport from the Leonia resort, where they had been staying during their time in Hyderabad.

Why did INDIA block MLAs were shifted to Hyderabad?

The decision to shift the MLAs to Hyderabad was driven by the JMM's apprehensions of possible poaching attempts by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This move was initiated shortly after Champai Soren assumed the role of Chief Minister, replacing former CM Hemant Soren following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Champai Soren, addressing the relocation, had expressed, "We can’t take any chance during the period as the BJP might try to contact our MLAs."

Champai Soren had claimed the support of 47 MLAs in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly. JMM's General Secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya, spoke confidently about the upcoming floor test scheduled for Monday. He stated, "We have the support of 47 members. Even those who had not signed the support letter have clarified their stand. Our MLA, Sita Soren, attended the swearing-in, while Lobin Hembrom has also announced his support today."

Supriyo Bhattacharya criticises governor

The Governor of Jharkhand C. P. Radhakrishnan faced criticism over the delay in allowing government formation in the state. Questioning the governor's actions, Bhattacharya remarked, "Whenever any CM resigns, the governor arranges for a caretaker government. Was that done here?"

Furthermore, he stated that his party claimed the number of MLA because the number remained the same as on January 31. He went on to raise the questing governor why didn't he ask his party leader to swear in straight away?

Champai Soren officially assumed the position of Chief Minister of Jharkhand after being sworn in on Friday.
