Wanted to become militant, was tortured by Indian army: NC MLA Qaiser Jamshaid

J-K News: Qaiser Jamshaid, MLA of National Conference, revealed that he wanted to become a militant during his younger days after he was “tortured and humiliated” by an Army officer during a military crackdown. Qaiser Jamshaid, First-term National Conference MLA, revealed how his faith was regained in the system at a time when he wanted to be a militant.

During the Motion of Thanks to the Lieutenant Governor's address in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Qaiser Lone said, during his younger days, he wanted to become a militant, but during a military crackdown he was  "tortured and humiliated" by an army officer. 

MLA breaksdown the questioning 

The NC MLA from Lobal stated that a senior officer’s warning to the army officer after the incident made him trust in the system again. The incident made me realize how dialogue can resolve issues, he said.
I was in standard 10th when a crackdown happened in my area. I was a complete youngster and there were 32 youths along with me who were singled out for questioning."

Lone stated during his speech in the House.Lone also added that during the crackdown, an army officer asked him if a youth had joined terrorist and he replied that he knew a youth who lives near his area had joined. I was beaten for that and after that army officer asked me whether any terrorist was present in the crackdown, the NC MLA stated.

Decoding grim state of interogation

Lone then told the House that a senior officer asked me what I want to become in life and I replied by saying, ‘I want to be a militant and when he asked me the reason behind it, I told him about the torture I had gone through. “The senior officer then scolded that subordinate army officer after speaking to me which made me trust again in the system,” Lone added. Lone also revealed that he later came to know that out of those 32 young men who were questioned, 27 had joined militant ranks.
