New Delhi: Suhail Ansari, an individual claiming the title of ‘international yoga teacher,’ is once again at the center of controversy due to his provocative and inappropriate videos. Ansari, who has garnered attention on social media, is accused of sexualizing his female students, predominantly Hindus, under the pretext of teaching yoga.

Controversial practices and viral videos

Suhail Ansari first drew criticism in March when his explicit videos went viral across social media platforms. The videos, which purported to demonstrate yoga poses, instead featured Ansari inappropriately touching his female students. These videos were further sensationalized by objectionable thumbnails that highlighted body parts and sexual positions, causing outrage among viewers.

Despite the significant backlash, Ansari's following on Instagram surged to over 144,000. The situation escalated when prominent Hindu leaders, including Pandit Dheerendra Shastri of Bageshwar Dham, publicly condemned Ansari’s actions. Shastri alleged that Ansari had coerced Hindu women into marriages with Muslim men, claiming, “There is a yoga teacher named Suhail who traps young girls and gets their Nikah done with Muslim men. 4 Hindu daughters have already fallen prey to it.” He expressed his anger, stating, “When such things happen in India, my blood boils.”

Apology and continued controversy

In response to the intense criticism, Suhail Ansari released an apology video, expressing regret and promising to amend his behavior. “My intentions are not to hurt anyone’s sentiments or feelings. I apologize from the bottom of my heart if I have hurt people’s sentiments,” he said. Despite this apology, recent investigations reveal that Ansari has resumed posting explicit content under the guise of ‘Advanced yoga training.’

The platform identified at least six disturbing posts from August alone, showcasing continued inappropriate behavior. Ansari's attempt to shield his actions by labeling the explicit content as advanced training has failed to quell the controversy. His conduct has led to widespread condemnation and calls for stricter regulation of yoga instructors and their content on social media.
