National News: Furious violent protests took place in Murshidabad district of West Bengal against the Waqf law, killing three people. According to the official, these people have run away from Dhulian to take refuge in nearby villages and schools.
BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has blamed Mamta government for violent protests in West Bengal. He alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's government has promoted radical elements, causing this violence to spread. The official said that this has caused serious conditions in the state due to TMC's appeasement politics and supporting the fiery religious groups. Suvendu officer shared pictures and videos of the violence, in which a person alleged that his house was burnt and the police did not take any action on it. Instead, the police ran away from the scene. The officer appealed to the BSF and the police to ensure the safe return of the people and demanded that strict action be taken against the culprits.
After the violence, the police have so far arrested 150 people and have stopped internet services in the area. Police say the situation is now under control, but due to violence, there is an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the area. Protests against the Waqf law have spread throughout the district and there is increasing dissatisfaction among the people.
Amid this development, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said in a statement that the Waqf law will not be applicable in the state. He alleged that some political parties are trying to gain political benefits only by opposing this law and provoking people in the name of religion. Mamta said that a reply should be sought from the central government in this matter and not from the state government. He also warned of legal action against those who provoked the riot.
Violence and politics against Waqf law in West Bengal have further increased tension in the state.
