Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has extended heartfelt gratitude to his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar for his unwavering support during his ongoing health struggles. Speaking to ANI, Kambli said, “I am feeling better now… I will never leave cricket because I remember the number of centuries and double centuries I have hit. I am thankful to Sachin Tendulkar as his blessings have always been with me.”

Kambli, a celebrated left-hander, remains resilient despite his deteriorating health. He was admitted to Aakriti Hospital in Thane on Saturday evening, where doctors raised concerns about his brain condition.

Medical update on Kambli's condition

Dr. Vivek Dwivedi, who is overseeing Kambli’s treatment, stated that the cricketer was admitted with high-grade fever, muscle cramps, and dizziness. “His brain’s condition is not stable due to degenerative changes. We are focusing on rehabilitation,” Dr. Dwivedi explained.

Further investigations revealed Kambli was suffering from a urinary tract infection, sodium and potassium deficiencies, and old brain clots from a recent stroke. While his vitals have stabilized, he remains under intensive care with ongoing physiotherapy. Doctors plan to discharge him within 2-3 days.

Financial aid from MP Shrikant Shinde

Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for Kambli through the Dr. Shrikant Shinde Foundation. This aid is expected to be delivered next week. Shinde also assured Kambli’s family of continued support, with further assistance planned.

Kambli expressed deep gratitude toward Maharashtra's leadership, particularly Eknath Shinde and his son Shrikant Shinde. He voiced his desire to personally meet Deputy CM Eknath Shinde to thank him for the support extended during his time of need.
