New Delhi: In a bizarre turn of events, Imphal airport in Manipur was thrust into a state of alert after the reported sighting of an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO). The mysterious incident led to the diversion and delay of several flights, causing a temporary shutdown of operations.

Security measures were heightened at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal following the detection of an unidentified flying object on Sunday. The airport, reacting promptly, experienced a temporary closure of four hours in the afternoon, disrupting normal flight operations.

Treading into an UFO alert

At around 3 pm, security personnel at Imphal Airport spotted an UFO, triggering an immediate response from airport authorities. An alert was issued to various agencies, leading to the postponement of flight operations until security clearance was obtained. As a result, two flights were diverted, and three departing flights faced delays, causing inconvenience to passengers.

Operations resume at Imphal International Airport

Director, Chipemmi Keishing, clarified in an official statement that flight operations resumed at 5.30 pm after receiving clearance from the competent authority. The sighting of an unidentified flying object within the controlled airspace of Imphal led to the disruptions.

IAF responds

The Eastern Command, in a post on X, revealed that the Indian Air Force (IAF) activated its Air Defence response mechanism based on visual inputs from Imphal airport. However, the small object was not visible thereafter, adding an element of mystery to the situation.

Obstruction of flight operations

CISF personnel initially sighted the object in the afternoon, leading to the obstruction of several flight operations. Passengers on outbound flights to Agartala, Guwahati, and Kolkata experienced delays, with operations gradually returning to normalcy by 6 pm.

The unusual sighting of a UFO near Imphal airport created a stir, impacting the smooth flow of flight operations. The incident, marked by heightened security measures and disrupted schedules, leaves both authorities and passengers intrigued about the nature of the mysterious flying object. As investigations unfold, the question remains: What exactly was hovering over the skies of Imphal?
