The victim of the pee-gate incident that happened in Madhya Pradeshs Sidhi district has urged the state government to release the accused, Pravesh Shukla, saying that he has realised his mistake. On Wednesday, the police arrested Shukla for allegedly urinating on a tribal, Dashmat Rawat on camera. The depressing incident went viral on Tuesday, following which he was arrested by the police, and a case was lodged against him. Since the video surfaced over the internet, the accused was charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, action has also been initiated under the National Security Act (NSA), against Pravesh Shukla, who is currently lodged in a jail. The MP government has also taken bulldozer action, alleging an illegal portion of the house belonging to Shukla in Sidhi. Dashmat Rawat demands the accuseds release Speaking to the media, the victim said, “My demand to the government is that a mistake has been committed (by the accused)…Now Pravesh Shukla should be released. Whatever has happened in the past, he has realised his mistake.”When asked why he is making this demand, despite this inhumane act, Rawat said, “Yes, I agree…He is a Pandit of our village, we demand the government to release him.” Moreover, the victim said that except for the construction of a road in the village, he has nothing more to demand from the government. This urination episode has also sparked a political controversy in the poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, where the opposition, especially Congress alleging that the was linked to BJP. However, the ruling party refuted all the connections with him. CM Chouhan seeks apologies for this pee-gate incident to the victimOn Thursday, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan washed Rawats feet at the CMs residence in Bhopal in order to apologise to him over the humiliating incident. Yet, the opposition called Chouhans move mere drama. Further, the Shivraj Chouhan-led government has sanctioned financial assistance of ₹5 lakh o the victim and also provided an additional amount of ₹1.5 lakh for the construction of his house.
