A heart-wrenching incident has been reported from Maharashtras Mumbai where a pregnant woman and her baby have died as doctors in the hospital carried out caesarian delivery using a torch of a mobile phone. It is even more shocking that the incident happened at the hospital run by Indias richest civic body – the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), whose budget is Rs 52,000 crore.The victim has been identified as Sahidun. To facilitate Sahiduns delivery, Khusruddin Ansari, a specially abled man without a leg, managed to have his 26-year-old wife admitted to the Sushma Swaraj maternity home. The couple got married 11 months back.According to the family, the maternity homes generator was left off for three hours on Monday when the power went out. The family alleged another delivery also took place in the dark, even after they lost mother and child. But doctors made an incision and came to get a signature for a c-section. The family has also shared the photos of scene when the c-section was carried out in the operation theater in the dark.
