Amid the ongoing rescue operation in the Uttarkashi tunnel where 41 workers have been trapped for 16 days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that all the agencies and government together are working hard to evacuate the workers trapped. He also urged that people should pray for tapped men to get out safely.The prime minister stated that the ongoing effort to free the trapped men is being hampered by natural obstacles.Since a section of the Silkyara tunnel collapsed on November 12 due to a landslide in the Uttarkashi region of the northern state, trapping 41 workers beneath a massive pile of rubble, multi-agency rescue operations have been conducted on a war footing.PM Modi addresses While attending the Koti Deepotsavam program at NTR stadium in Hyderabad, PM Modi said, We should remember the men, trapped in the Uttarakhand tunnel, in our prayers for their speedy evacuation.The Prime Minster added, Today when we are praying to Gods and Goddesses and talking about the welfare of humanity, we also have to give place in our prayers to those laborers who have been stuck in a tunnel in Uttarakhand for the last two weeks. Notably, five distinct agencies were assigned to implement the five options that were determined to be used to free the trapped workers.Disruption in Rescue operationOn Saturday, the American Auger machine broke, which was being used for horizontal drilling, presented a challenge to the rescue effort.Authorities stated that the 1,750-horsepower diesel-driven drilling machine will no longer be used. Manual drilling has been initiated for the rescue operation.
