Indian Army members together with rescue operations personnel struggle to pull nine employees out of 55 workers from their trapped positions after an avalanche hit a Border Roads Organisation BRO camp at high elevation near Mana village in Uttarakhand's Badrinath. On Day 2 of the search activities the Indian Army rescued 14 more staff while a medical evacuation transferred three gravely injured personnel to Joshimath through civil helicopters after weather conditions improved slightly.

Disaster Management Secretary

Three harmed members received emergency medical care by using an Indian Army-hired civil helicopter evacuation from Mana toward Joshimath. The teams performing the search operation succeeded in saving 33 workers by Day 1's conclusion. Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman of Uttarakhand stated that seven feet of snow near the avalanche site made the search mission increasingly difficult. Fifty-five workers clearing snow became trapped at a BRO camp at 7:15 am during their efforts to facilitate army movements in Mana which represents the final village before the Indo-Tibetan border. The workers ended up being buried within eight containers and a single shed.

Indian Army deployed

According to Bartwal, the Indian Army deployed swift response teams from Ibex Bigade which included more than 100 personnel together with doctors and ambulances and plant equipment for the rescue operation. Through search operation teams the officials successfully located five containers with 10 individuals who survived intact before 11:50 am on Friday according to Bartwal who noted four workers out of ten remained critical as per their condition. The heavy snow conditions in the area make the rescue teams exercise maximum caution during their operations according to Bartwal.

Border Roads Organization (BRO)

Massive small-scale snow slides in this mountain area have impeded rescue efforts as both operation speed and safety procedures must be prioritized. General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) leads the road-clearing initiative to support medical resource transfer from Joshimath to Mana for rescue operations according to Bartwal. From his residence Pushkar Singh Dhami operates as the chief monitor of the ongoing rescue work while maintaining continuous communication with Uttarakhand officials.

Chief Minister Dhami contacted Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Chief Minister Dhami contacted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide updates about the active rescue efforts. Through an X post Dhami revealed that PM Modi phoned him to receive an update about the Mana rescue efforts directed towards saving trapped workers located in Chamoli district's Mana sector. The Prime Minister received extended information regarding weather conditions across the state. The Prime Minister gave his commitment that his government will offer full cooperation to handle any emergency situation.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah communicated with Chief Minister Dhami to guarantee that saving the remaining workers represented the central government's leading operational focus. Senior Official @amitshah announced through X about his direct communication with Uttarakhand Governor Shri @pushkardhami together with ITBP Director General and NDRF Director General about the Chamoli glacier catastrophe. The number one task for our team remains to rescue everyone who stuck in the mishap.
