Uttar Pradesh: Woman leaves her husband, elopes with father-in-law

New Delhi: A shocking incident has came to light from Uttar Pradesh's Badaun districrt. A woman got married seven years ago, and initially, everything was good for about a year, but suddenly she disappeared. Her husband and family searched for her extensively, but couldn't find any lead on her. After few days, her father-in-law went missing unexpectedly. Later it turns out that the father-in-law and woman got married to each other without telling their family. 

Shocking revelation

When they get to know about this truth after seven years, Husband and family members was shocked. Now, woman married to her father-in-law, has a son with him and claims to be happy in her current life. She explained that at the time of her first marriage, her husband was underage and illiterate, unable to support her. Feeling closer to her father-in-law, she decided to run away with him. They settled in Chandauli, keeping their marriage secret to avoid societal backlash.

Police investigation uncovers truth 

According to media reports, the entire incident took place in the jurisdiction of Dabtore Chowki in Badayun district. A young man from Vajeerganj area informed the police that he got married to a woman from there in 2016. A year later, his wife suddenly disappeared. He searched for his wife for several days, during which even his father went missing suddenly. Despite extensive searches, they couldn't be traced. A few days later, they received information about the couple residing in Chandauli, leading him to inform Bisauli police. Police initiated an investigation and apprehended both.

Why did she elope with father-in-law? 

When interrogated, she explained that at the time of her first marriage, her husband was underage and illiterate, incapable of fulfilling her needs. Amidst this, she developed feelings for her father-in-law and decided to elope with him. They got married and started living together in Chandauli. They even have a two-year-old son together and claim to be content with their life. The woman mentioned that if news of her marriage to her father-in-law had spread in the community, it would have led to significant disgrace, prompting her to live quietly in Chandauli.
