New Delhi: A shockinh incident has come to light from uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur where a TV journalist has accused a police officer of assault following a query about a missing nameplate. This incident, which was captured on video, has widely surfaced on social media, stirring widespread outrage.

The confrontation occurred in the Sureri police station area of Jaunpur. The video, shared by journalist Vishnu Raghav, shows a disturbing interaction between him and a police officer. Raghav’s caption, “When I asked the officer about the nameplate, I got a hard slap on my ear. The case is from Sureri police station area of Jaunpur (sic).” The footage begins with Raghav questioning a police officer about the absence of a name badge. While one officer complies and displays his badge, another officer responds aggressively, slapping Raghav and subjecting him to verbal abuse.

Additional footage reveals misconduct

Further complicating the situation, another video has surfaced depicting further police misconduct. In this clip, the journalist is seen fleeing with a child, amidst accusations of additional physical abuse. The claims extend to allegations that Raghav’s mother and sister were also subjected to mistreatment as police officer abuse the and despite these serious accusations, an FIR has been lodged against Raghav.

Police launch probe into viral video

The Jaunpur Police have taken note of the video and to conduct a further investigation. According to their statement, the Superintendent of Police has entrusted the Deputy Superintendent of Police with investigating the case and subsequent legal action will be determined by the findings of the investigation report.
