New Delhi News: Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh youngster is in the clutches of Pakistan for allegedly trying to sneak into the neighbouring country to meet a woman, whom he was in touch through Facebook. The family of the youth has sought assistance from the government of India for help in his safe release

Love Story Takes Shocking Turn

A 21-year-old young man, Badal Babu, is sitting in Pakistani jails for meeting his Facebook friend Sana Rani. From a virtual connect to an albatross that hangs on his family, what seemed so harmless had turned into a nightmare. Badal had left with his parents telling that he is working in Delhi, whereas it has been only recently that news surfaced that Badal has been picked up and taken to the custody by Mandi Bahauddin district in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

Shocked Family Appeals to PM Modi for Help

When the family received the news that he had crossed the border, they were left shell-shocked. It was actually informed to his family that Babu went to Delhi for work, whereas the truth is he was arrested in Pakistan. The family, desperate for getting him back home, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought his help for bringing out the son from jail. Kirpal Singh, father of Babu, barely seems to believe that all this was happening with his son. "It's something straight out of a film," he said.

The Facebook Connection

Badal Babu and Sana Rani were Facebook friends for two and a half years, but as per reports, Rani never had any interest in marrying him. Babu tried crossing the border to meet her and got arrested; Pakistani authorities took him into custody for illegal border crossing. Babu was produced before the court and was put into judicial custody. His next hearing is scheduled on January 10.

Efforts of Diplomacy

Amrit Jain who is the District Superintendent of Police at Aligarh said that there was never denial from the part of the family, but this would be surely found some ways through which it would be very easy for authorities to get Babu returned. Case would be made with the ministry of External affairs for the young boy to be returned from Pakistan.
