New Delhi: In a chilling case from Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, a young man beheaded his father due to superstitious beliefs, following the advice of a local exorcist. The accused, Ramashankar alias Ravi Kharwar, allegedly murdered his father, Soneshwar Kharwar, using an axe after being told by the exorcist that his father had cursed his family with black magic.Superstition led to attackThe exorcist, purportedly a figure of significant influence in the local community, suggested that the root cause of the illness was rooted in black magic. According to the exorcists claim, the source of the affliction was none other than Ramashankars father, Soneshwar Kharwar. This assertion was based on the belief that Soneshwar had used black magic against his own family, leading to his grandsons suffering.Enraged and convinced by the exorcists allegations, Ramashankar returned home with a sense of righteous anger. He confronted his father, demanding an explanation and accusing him of cursing the family. Soneshwar, taken aback and distressed by the accusation, attempted to calm his son and reason with him. Despite his pleas and attempts to de-escalate the situation, Ramashankars anger intensified.Further investigation underwayFollowing the crime, the accused fled the scene, leaving the local community in shock. Neighbors alerted the police, and law enforcement swiftly arrived at the crime scene. Additional SP Kalu Singh confirmed the arrest of the accused and stated that the police are now searching for the exorcist who allegedly provoked the young man to commit the murder.The body of the victim has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the exorcists involvement. This incident is a grim reminder of how superstition and blind faith continue to lead to violent tragedies in certain regions.
