New Delhi: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Hapur where a family of three reportedly ended their lives by consuming poison. The victims include Sanjeev Rana, his wife Premvati and their daughter Payal. The distressing event has shocked the local community and has prompted immediate action from the police.

According to sources, Sanjeev Rana, a resident of Sapnaavat village in the Kapurpur police station area, had secured a loan from a private bank to fund his children's education. Unfortunately, Sanjeev and his family struggled to keep up with the loan repayments. The mounting pressure from the bank, which intensified as they fell behind on installments, is believed to have significantly contributed to the family's decision to take such a drastic step.

How did it happen?

On the evening of the incident, bank employees reportedly visited Sanjeev Rana’s home and confronted him about the overdue payments. This confrontation appears to have deeply affected Sanjeev. He is said to have poisoned his wife and daughter before consuming the poison himself. The condition of all three deteriorated rapidly, leading the villagers to rush them to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save them, Sanjeev, Premvati, and Payal were declared dead during treatment.

Financial pressure claims three lives

Villagers reported that Sanjeev had returned from his in-laws' house on Saturday evening and began vomiting shortly after. He was taken to the hospital but passed away. His wife and daughter, who were also in critical condition, were referred to a hospital in Meerut, where they also succumbed to the poison. The incident has brought to light the severe impact of financial stress on individuals and families, underscoring the need for support systems to help those in financial distress.

Investigation is ongoing

The police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations. An investigation into the circumstances leading up to the suicides is underway. Authorities are examining the role of the bank's actions in this tragedy and will take appropriate measures based on their findings.
