A senior police official stated, “An attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express by putting the LPG cylinder on the tracks. Soon after receiving information, senior officers rushed to the site and launched an investigation. The forensics team was called in and the Railway Protection Force is also probing the matter.” The loco-pilot acted swiftly, applying the emergency brakes upon spotting the cylinder, which moved away from the tracks upon impact.Additionally, a Molotov cocktail was found at the scene of the Kalindi Express incident, raising concerns over safety measures. On August 17, 22 coaches of the Varanasi-Ahmedabad Sabarmati Express derailed near Kanpur after the engine hit an object described by the loco-pilot as a boulder. Furthermore, just last week, a six-meter-long iron rod was discovered on the railway tracks between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur city. The railway authorities have indicated this could be an act of sabotage, prompting the loco-pilot to engage the emergency brakes to clear the track.
