The tragedy was reportedly preceded by a formal complaint filed by Rinki's father on September 8. He accused a man, identified as Arun alias Brajesh, of molesting and assaulting his daughter. Despite the seriousness of the allegations, no action was taken by the local police, leaving Rinki vulnerable.
