US Ex- Prez Barack Obama and Dalai Lama to arrive at Karnataka in December

Former US President Barack Obama and spiritual leader Dalai Lama are scheduled to travel to Karnataka this year to lay the cornerstone for an international yoga and meditation institute developed by the Bhutayi Trust. Both are anticipated to go to Hallegere, Mandya district, in December of this year.

Minister Cheluvaraya Swamy, who oversees the Mandya District, met with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday and asked him to set up helipads, roads, drains, electricity, and drinking water for the program. They were accompanied by a delegation that included the president of the trust, Dr. Lakshminarasimha Murthy.

According to the report, CM Siddaramaiah “responded positively” to the requests and stated he would hold conversations about them. Barack Obama’s medical advisor, Dr. Vivek Murthy, is the son of Dr. Lakshminarasimha Murthy. Dr. Lakshminarasimha Murthy had previously inherited 13 acres of land; therefore, he planned to use his trust to build an international yoga and meditation facility at an estimated cost of 80 crore.

Dinesh Gooligowda, MLA of Mandya, later decided to help the trust by providing a grant of ₹10 lakh from his regional development fund.
