Crime News: A shocking incident from Basti, Uttar Pradesh, has exposed a troubling lapse in the healthcare system after a video went viral showing a ward boy inappropriately handling a female patient. The video, recorded in a private hospital, has sparked widespread outrage as it shows the ward boy stripping the woman naked under the guise of medical treatment and later dressing her. This appalling act has not only tarnished the reputation of the hospital but also raised serious concerns about patient safety and privacy in medical facilities.
The incident occurred at Basti Care Multispeciality Hospital, where a ward boy named Vicky was employed. In the viral video, Vicky is seen undressing the woman before dressing her again, actions he claimed were carried out under the instructions of a senior doctor, Dr. Sanjay Gautam. The video, once circulated on social media, ignited a firestorm of criticism, leading to the immediate dismissal of Vicky by the hospital management. The hospital operator has since stated that an internal investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the incident.
Despite the severity of the incident, no immediate reaction came from the local administration. However, the widespread public outcry prompted District Magistrate Ravish Gupta to order a thorough investigation into the matter. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) RS Dubey, who learned of the incident through media reports, has committed to sending a team to the hospital to conduct an inquiry and ensure that those responsible face strict legal consequences.
This incident adds to a growing list of troubling cases involving the mistreatment of patients in medical facilities. In a related case from Kolkata, a junior doctor was reportedly subjected to brutal treatment, leading to her tragic death. Her post-mortem report revealed severe injuries, including glass fragments embedded in her eyes, indicating extreme violence.
In response to the Basti incident, District Magistrate Ravish Gupta has ordered immediate action, while CMO RS Dubey has vowed to ensure a thorough investigation.
