A shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh has drawn widespread attention after a video of a police officer slapping a journalist went viral on social media. The confrontation occurred when the journalist questioned the officer for not wearing a name badge, which is mandatory for Indian police officers as part of maintaining accountability and public trust.

In the video that surfaced on social media platform X, the journalist can be seen calmly asking the officer, "Why aren't you wearing a nameplate? How are we supposed to trust you like this?" Despite the reasonable nature of the inquiry, the officer's response was both aggressive and unexpected.

The footage begins with the journalist posing the question about the missing name badge and asserting that the officer should be wearing one as part of his uniform. The officer initially confirms that he is entitled to wear a nameplate but offers no explanation for why he isn’t wearing one at the time. As the journalist continues to question him, another police officer is seen in the background, wearing his own name badge as per regulations.

However, tensions escalate when the journalist continues to press for answers, leading the first officer to lose his temper. He violently slaps the journalist and begins hurling abuses, further intensifying the situation.

This incident has sparked public outrage, with many questioning the behavior of law enforcement officers and calling for accountability.
