New Delhi: A woman in Lucknow has accused a man of deceiving her into marriage by concealing his religion, only to later divorce her by uttering talaq three times. The man, identified as Taj Mohammad, allegedly introduced himself as Bablu and began a relationship with the woman, who belongs to a Brahmin family.The woman claims that after eloping with Taj, she discovered his real identity and objected, but was met with violence and forced conversion to Islam. The couple married under Islamic rites, and she soon became pregnant. Despite her efforts to sustain the household by working as a laborer under the Rajiv Gandhi Womens Development Project, her situation worsened when Taj reportedly traveled to Saudi Arabia using her savings and gradually distanced himself from her.Lucknows situation The situation escalated when the woman learned that Taj had married another woman, Sazia, in Gosai Ganj, Lucknow. Upon confronting him, she alleges that he physically and mentally abused her before eventually throwing her out. Forced to seek refuge with her brother, the woman claims that Taj later arrived at her brothers house, created a scene, and divorced her by pronouncing talaq three times.Following her complaint, the police have registered a case under Sections 3 and 4 of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, and Sections 3 and 5(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021. Station House Officer (SHO) Anuj Tiwari confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
