New Delhi: In a shocking case from the Vishnupura police station area of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, a young man has been arrested for kidnapping a Hindu girl, forcibly converting her religion, and raping her. The accused, identified as Azad Ansari, was apprehended by the police on Monday and has been sent to jail.
According to a statement by Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Kumar Mishra, the incident came to light on September 2 when the victim’s mother lodged a complaint. She reported that her 19-year-old daughter had been kidnapped by Ansari, son of Basruddin, a resident of Thadhibahar Garjan Tola. The police immediately registered a case and began searching for the accused.
During the investigation, authorities uncovered that Ansari had not only kidnapped the girl but also raped her after converting her religion. The police, under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abhinav Tyagi and Circle Officer (CO) Jitendra Singh Kalra, arrested Ansari. The case has now been escalated, with additional charges under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act being added.
Meanwhile, a similar incident has emerged from Agra, where a man posed as a Hindu to befriend a 15-year-old girl on Instagram. The man wore a kalva and tilak to deceive the girl into believing he was of the same religion. He later took her to a guest house, where he molested her. The girl’s father, upon learning of the situation, reached the location with the police and caught the suspect red-handed.
The accused is now facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, along with the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Religious Conversion Act.The swift action by authorities in both cases highlights the growing concern over forced conversions and exploitation in the state.
