On Monday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a union Cabinet meeting to discuss the agenda for the ongoing special session of Parliament. The meeting, held at the Annexe building which lasted for more than 100 minutes, indicating the gravity of the issues.
Before the Cabinet meeting, Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Pralhad Joshi, and several other ministers met Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, although the agenda of these preliminary talks has yet to be revealed.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted that while this Parliament session might be shorter in duration, it holds immense historical significance. He urged Members of Parliament to participate with enthusiasm, addressing previous issues that had led to disruptions during previous sessions, often caused by opposition protests.
Taking a jibe at the opposition, Prime Minister Modi commented that there would be plenty of time for “rona dhona” (complaints), alluding to the criticism the government has faced regarding the timing and nature of this session.
The day before, Pralhad Joshi had appealed to all political parties for active cooperation and support to ensure the smooth functioning of both Houses of Parliament. The meeting of floor leaders from various political parties in Parliament saw participation from numerous ministers and 51 leaders representing 34 parties.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore also offered his perspective on the all-party meeting, stating that the government operates Parliament with a degree of secrecy, reflecting the ongoing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition.
Earlier on Monday morning, leaders from various political parties within the INDIA bloc convened to strategize for the forthcoming five-day session. They collectively decided to maintain floor coordination among the parties and focus on key issues, including rising prices, unemployment concerns, the violence in Manipur, and Chinese transgressions along the border.
Furthermore, the coalition expressed their intent to push the government for discussions on topics such as Adani firms, the distress faced by farmers, the economic situation in the country, and the possibility of conducting a caste census.
According to reports from news agency PTI, the alliance also agreed to oppose the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners’ appointment bill, which has already been introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
Prominent leaders from various parties, including Congress, TMC, RJD, NCP, Left parties, JMM, Samajwadi Party, DM, and VCK, participated in the INDIA bloc meeting held at the office of the leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, at approximately 10 am.
