The man known as Bhole Baba, also recognised as Narayan Saakar Hari, whose satsang on Tuesday led to the deaths of 121 people in Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, is a former police officer named Suraj Pal. He served with the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) for 18 years and retired for spiritual reasons in 1990 while stationed in Etah.
Suraj Pal is particularly revered among the lower-middle-class and poor communities in famous regions like Etah-Kasganj and the Braj area. He is known for his distinctive appearance, always sporting a clean, full beard and wearing entirely white attire. During his satsangs, he often sits on a high chair resembling a throne, sometimes joined by his wife on a similar seat.

It has emerged that Baba also has political connections. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has attended his darbars in the past. Last January, Akhilesh had attended Baba's satsang and even shared a post praising Baba's glory. Baba has previously faced allegations in several serious cases. Let's delve into his darker past.
The accused in the Hathras tragedy, Bhole Baba's real name is Suraj Pal alias Narayan Hari. He hails from Etah. Baba has built his own army. Five cases of sexual assault have been registered against him. Not only that, 28 years ago, Baba worked as a head constable in the Uttar Pradesh Police. But after the case was filed, he was dismissed from the police department.
This is the story of becoming a baba from a common man. After being released from jail, Suraj Pal changed his name and identity and became a baba. After which, people now call him God and God.
