Tragedy Unfolds
A devastating incident occurred on Saturday when a portion of the roof collapsed inside the SLBC tunnel project in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana. Six to eight workers are feared trapped according to information provided by the company involved. The collapse happened approximately 12-13 kilometers into the tunnel while workers were engaged in construction activities.
Immediate action taken, following the accident, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to rush to the site for relief measures. State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and other officials flew to the location via helicopter. Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy expressed concern and urged swift rescue efforts along with medical aid for any injured personnel.
Criticism over safety standards, BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over alleged negligence leading to such incidents. He emphasized that these accidents occur due to collusion with contractors and evasion of supervision.
