A distressing video from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, has emerged, showing a woman being assaulted on a footpath in broad daylight. The footage reveals a man attacking the woman after forcing her to drink alcohol. The graphic video has rapidly circulated on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.

Congress Slams BJP Government

The opposition Congress party has seized the opportunity to criticize the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government in response to this horrific event. Congress State President Jeetu Patwari condemned the incident, branding it as a disgrace to the religious city of Ujjain. Patwari accused the state government of failing to uphold the law, suggesting that the administration's effectiveness has deteriorated significantly.

Incident Details and Police Response

The rape occurred in the Koyla Phatak area, near the Kotwali police station and a local petrol pump. The video shows the woman, a 45-year-old beggar residing near the Chimanganj police station, lying on the footpath while the accused, Lokesh, commits the assault. Kotwali police station CSP Omprakash Mishra confirmed that the video prompted an immediate police response. The authorities identified Lokesh through the footage, arrested him, and have since placed him in custody.

Video Taker Under Investigation

Adding to the horror, the video capturing the assault was filmed by a bystander who failed to intervene. The police are now investigating the individual who recorded the video and plan to take strict action against them. According to the police, the victim had been living on the streets of Ujjain with her family for the past seven years. The accused lured her with alcohol before committing the rape.
