Udhayanidhi Stalin, the DMK minister for Tamil Nadu, responded to the ongoing controversy with a funny rejoinder, unfazed by the Bhartiya Janata Party‘s (BJP) relentless criticism of his remark about “Santana Dharma“. The DMK leader used X (previously Twitter) to post a photo of mosquito-repellent incense in response to an earlier statement he made in which he connected Sanatana Dharma to ailments like dengue and malaria.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has been bashing the BJP for its practices for some time now. Earlier in an event in Tamil Nadu, he said, “Few things cannot be opposed; those should be abolished only. We can’t oppose dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or coronavirus. We have to eradicate this. That’s how we have to eradicate Sanatana.”
Another comparison is made by the minister for Tamil Nadu, who this time links the saffron party to a “poisonous snake.” He allegedly said this while making fun of the opposition AIADMK and calling it “garbage that shelters snakes” during the wedding of DMK MLA Sabha Rajendran
“If a poisonous snake enters your home, it will not be enough to just throw it away because it may hide in the rubbish near your home. Unless you clear the bushes, the snake will keep returning to your home,” Udhayanidhi, who is the son of Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, said.
Udhay’s remarks were in line with those made earlier by DMK leader and Lok Sabha Member A. Raja, who also made a comparison to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Everyone is ready to beat the snake called Modi, but no one has the antidote for a snakebite. They all approach with sticks, but they fear being bitten by the snake. No one has a remedy for that,” the DMK general secretary said earlier.
