Tell papa to stop this war too: Uddhav Thackeray challenges PM Modi to halt Hindu atrocities in Bangladesh

He emphasized the supremacy of the people's will, stating, "The people are supreme, and no politician should test their patience. If you do, then what a people's court can do was seen in Bangladesh. The People's Court is supreme.

New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday publicly challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. During a press conference, Thackeray argued that if the prime minister could mediate to halt the war in Ukraine, he could certainly address the crisis in India's neighboring country.

"If Prime Minister Modi could stop the war in Ukraine, he should also take similar steps in Bangladesh to save the Hindus there," Thackeray asserted. He continued, "If he can stop the war between Ukraine and Russia, then tell Papa to stop this war, too. Papa, atrocities are being committed against Hindus in Bangladesh; please do justice to them," referencing the BJP's Lok Sabha election campaign advertisement.

Concerns over Sheikh Hasina's ouster

Reacting to the ouster of Sheikh Hasina as Bangladesh's Prime Minister, Thackeray voiced concerns that a similar situation could arise in India. "Do you think that a similar situation should develop in India?" he questioned. He emphasized the supremacy of the people's will, stating, "The people are supreme, and no politician should test their patience. If you do, then what a people's court can do was seen in Bangladesh. The people's court is supreme. The people's court has given a ruling in Bangladesh."

Comparing protests

Thackeray drew parallels between the treatment of protesters in Bangladesh and India. "In Bangladesh, protesters were called Razakers. Similarly, in India, the protesting farmers were labeled as terrorists. This situation in Bangladesh is a warning for everyone. Nobody should think they are above God. We are all humans," Thackeray remarked.

Sheikh Hasina's current status

Sheikh Hasina resigned as Bangladesh's Prime Minister on Tuesday, fleeing Dhaka on a military aircraft. She landed at Ghaziabad's Hindon airport and is currently in a safe house in India while considering a move to Europe.
