In a significant political shift, the Congress Party announced on Sunday, September 22, the appointment of Uday Bhanu Chib as the new President of the Indian Youth Congress. Chib, who has been serving as the General Secretary of the Youth wing, will take over his new role immediately. He succeeds Srinivas BV, the outgoing president, who led the youth wing during a crucial period of political activity.

In the official announcement, the Congress Party expressed its deep appreciation for Srinivas BV's contributions, acknowledging his leadership and dedication throughout his tenure. The party thanked Srinivas for steering the youth wing effectively and highlighted his efforts in mobilizing youth participation across the nation.

The Congress also congratulated Uday Bhanu Chib on his new position, recognizing his previous work as the General Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress and his leadership experience as the former President of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress. Chib is expected to bring fresh energy and vision to the youth wing as it continues its efforts to engage and empower young voters in India.

Key leadership changes in the Congress party

Along with Chib's appointment, the Congress Party also made another significant leadership change on the same weekend. On Saturday, the party named Subhankar Sarkar as the new President of its West Bengal unit, replacing Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Sarkar, previously serving as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary, overseeing the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Mizoram, will now take on his new role in West Bengal.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed gratitude for Chowdhury’s years of leadership and welcomed Sarkar as the new West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) chief.
