Parliament security breach: Congress MP Manickam Tagore has raised concerns over the suspected involvement of BJP MP Pratap Simha in providing Parliament passes to individuals responsible for triggering panic in the Lok Sabha. Tagore questions whether any action will be taken against Simha, emphasizing a potential disparity in the treatment of MPs compared to the suspension of Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra for a password-related issue.

Two Rules for Two MPs?

Sharing a photo of Simha with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tagore tweets, "This Mr Pratap Simha BJP MP gave a Pass to those who attacked Parliament. Will action be taken against the BJP MP who gave the Pass? When an MP lost her seat for a Password. Two rules for two MPs?"

Parliament Security Breach

A significant security breach occurred during Zero Hour in Parliament when two individuals intruded with gas canisters, causing panic. Simultaneously, two protestors demonstrated outside Parliament with similar gas canisters. All four were later detained.

Simha's Clarification

Sources reveal that Simha briefed Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla about the accused persons whom he allegedly issued Parliament passes. Simha claims that the father of one intruder belonged to his constituency, requesting a visitors' pass for the new Parliament building visit. The intruder was in constant touch with Simha's personal assistant (PA) for the pass.

Opposition's Demand for Expulsion

Trinamool Congress leader Shashi Panja demands the expulsion of BJP MP Pratap Simha from Lok Sabha, alleging that he compromised national security by issuing passes to the intruders. The TMC leader draws a parallel with the expulsion of Mahua Moitra for a security-related issue.

Investigation Underway

Delhi Police sources reveal that initial investigations indicate the involvement of individuals from outside the national capital, staying at a residence in Gurugram. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining suspects. The detained individuals, Neelam and Amol, have no mobile phones or identity proof and deny any affiliation with an organization.

Security Measures

Senior officials of the Intelligence Bureau have visited the new Parliament building to assess and address the security breach that occurred earlier.

This controversy surrounding Pratap Simha adds a new layer to the recent Parliament security lapse, raising questions about accountability and security protocols within the legislative premises.
