Villagers alleged that these teachers frequently come to school under the influence of alcohol, severely affecting the learning environment and students’ education. When the parents urged them to begin the meeting, their incoherent and intoxicated responses further enraged those present.
As soon as a video of the incident surfaced on social media, District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgain took immediate cognizance of the matter. He ordered the Chief Education Officer to suspend both teachers, emphasizing that indiscipline in the education sector would not be tolerated. The administration also shared details of the action taken on Facebook.
The incident has sparked widespread anger among villagers, who expressed concerns over the impact of such irresponsible behavior on students’ futures. They urged authorities to conduct regular inspections and closely monitor teachers to prevent such incidents from recurring.
This episode has raised serious questions about discipline in the education sector in Bageshwar. While the swift response by authorities sets a strong precedent, the bigger challenge remains in ensuring such misconduct does not happen again. It remains to be seen what further measures the education department will implement to uphold teaching standards and accountability.
