Seven passengers on Air India’s flight AI 302 from Delhi to Sydney experienced minor injuries as a result of turbulence encountered during the journey on Tuesday.

Sources from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have reported that the affected passengers on board the Boeing 787-800 aircraft, which encountered mid-flight turbulence, complained of minor sprains.

The cabin crew of Air India, along with a doctor and nurse who happened to be passengers on the flight, administered first aid to the injured individuals using the onboard first aid kit.

Upon the arrival of the flight in Sydney during the early hours of Wednesday, Air India’s airport manager made arrangements for medical assistance, although only three passengers took advantage of the offered assistance.

According to sources confirmed by India Today, there was no need for hospitalisation.

An official statement from an Air India spokesperson stated, “During Air India’s flight AI 302 on May 16, 2023, flying from Delhi to Sydney, turbulence was encountered mid-air, causing discomfort to the passengers. The flight landed safely in Sydney, and upon arrival, three passengers sought medical assistance. None of them required hospitalisation. As per standard practice, this incident has been reported to the appropriate authorities.”
