Farooq Abdullah Sings Devotional Bhajan at Katra Ashram, Goes Viral (X/ @ANI)

J-K News: Farooq Abdullah, the prominent leader of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC), captured attention on social media Thursday with a heartfelt devotional performance. Abdullah surprised devotees by singing a bhajan dedicated to Mata Sherawali, which quickly went viral.

In a video shared online, he participated in a bhajan event at an ashram in Katra, joining a singer and children to perform the song, "Tune Mujhe Bulaya Sherawaliye, Main Aaya Main Aaya Sherawaliye."

Concerns Over Ropeway Construction

Abdullah also addressed concerns regarding the construction of a ropeway in Katra, urging those responsible for managing the Mata Vaishno Devi temple to avoid actions that could inconvenience the public. He expressed support for local opposition to the ropeway project, stating, "Those managing the temple should not engage in any activities that harm local interests or create problems for them.

"The former Chief Minister criticized the board for planning the ropeway without considering the city's interests. He commended local residents for their courage in opposing the project, saying, "You have shown bravery and fought hard to stop it. They have realized that power lies with the people, not with the government."

Power of the People

Abdullah emphasized that citizens hold the power to shape governance and that officials are now reaching out to discuss where the ropeway should be constructed. This sentiment underscores a growing recognition of public influence over local development decisions.
