Chaos at wedding turns violent (X/SudhakarUdumula)

A wedding in Navipet, Nizamabad, turned violent on Wednesday, resulting in injuries to 10 individuals after a dispute over mutton curry escalated into a major altercation. The confrontation unfolded between guests from the bride’s and groom’s families, quickly spiraling into chaos involving utensils, chairs, and other objects.

The bride, hailing from Navipet, and the groom, from Badguna village in Nandipet mandal, had arranged for shared wedding expenses, which included a lunch for the guests. Trouble began when some attendees complained about the quantity of mutton curry served. When the catering staff did not meet their demands, tensions flared. A group of guests, reportedly intoxicated, began to demand more mutton.

Efforts by the bride’s family to de-escalate the situation proved futile, leading to a physical brawl. Guests from both families engaged in a violent exchange, throwing utensils, chairs, and other items, transforming the wedding venue into a scene of disorder.

Police Intervention

The escalating violence prompted a bystander to contact the police. Officers arrived at the scene and successfully restored order. The injured were transported to Nizamabad Government Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, taking swift action in the incident, Navipet police have registered a case against 19 individuals, including women, for their involvement in the disturbance. Notably, the case was filed by a police constable as neither party involved submitted a formal complaint.
