In a shocking incident from Agartala, a man was detained for allegedly killing a tea seller after a brawl that took a voilent turn resulting in death of victim when he refused to serve tea. Altercation Over Unsettled PaymentsThe incident stemmed from a disagreement between the deceased identified as Sukhen Das and accused Dipankar Sarkar regarding unpaid dues for tea and cigarettes. Violent TurnSarkar allegedly attacked Das with a brick after the latter refused to serve him until he cleared his outstanding debts. He repeatedly hit the tea sellers head leading to severe injuries. The victim had sustained fatal head injuries from the assault and was declared dead at GBP Hospital in Agartala.Legal ActionSpeaking on th incident, inspector-in-charge, East Agartala Police Station said that the accused Dipankar Sarkar, was a neighbour of the deceased who used to serve tea and cigarettes to Sarkar whenever he asked. However, one day he refused to pay the money in return. Later when Sen returned back again to ask for tea and cigarette, Das asked him to first pay the dues. This let to an altercation between the two that escalated into this fatal murder. Following Dass demise, his widow, Bithi Das, lodged a complaint leading to Sarkars arrest. The police have sought to include IPC section 302 (murder) in the case and obtained a four-day police remand for the accused.Ongoing InvestigationAuthorities are awaiting further details as the investigation unfolds.
