The Dalai Lama expressed his happiness over the achievement of his adopted country, where he has spent the bulk of his life since arriving as a refugee in 1959.

“As the longest-staying guest of India, I rejoice at this great triumph… I am confident that the Indian Scientific Research Organisation will continue to strengthen its leadership role in further scientific endeavours,” he said.

Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander achieved a historic touchdown on the uncharted lunar South Pole on Wednesday evening after a 40-day journey through space. With this accomplishment, India became the first country to successfully land a spacecraft in this location and only the fourth nation after the US, Soviet Union, and China to achieve a lunar landing mission.
