New Delhi: In a swift operation, the Majhola police station of Moradabad district has successfully apprehended a sextortion gang, dismantling their illegal activities. The gang, comprising four individuals – including a woman – preyed on affluent citizens, holding them captive and filming obscene videos for extortion purposes.How did the gang operateThe gangs leader, Asim alias Sonu, reportedly lured victims under the pretense of exorcism services. Once abducted, the victims were threatened at gunpoint and forced into compromising situations involving Sania, Asims cousins sister. These acts were filmed, and the footage was then used to extort hefty sums of money from the victims families.Police crackdown on accusedPolice officials swung into action after Ahsan Ali, a resident of Mundhapande, filed a complaint at the Majhola police station. Asim, along with his associates Gyasuddin, Abdul Rahim, and Sajiya, were apprehended. The police also recovered weapons, a mobile phone, and vehicles used in the crimes.Hunt for remaining perpetrators continuesThe search for Sania and Ansar Hussain, who provided their residence for the gangs activities, is still ongoing.Sanias past enmity with police raises concernsA previous incident involving Sania has come to light. In April 2024, she registered a complaint regarding a lost mobile phone at the Civil Lines police station. When the phone was recovered and returned, Sania allegedly displayed abusive behavior towards the officers involved.
