Indian Railways, already under scrutiny for a series of recent train accidents and complaints of passenger hardships, is again in the spotlight due to a troubling incident. A disturbing video has emerged from Bihar, showing a train guard's mistreatment of a differently-abled man, further highlighting the challenges faced by passengers.

Incident Details

On Tuesday, August 13, at Samastipur Railway Station, a guard on the Vaishali Superfast Express train was caught on camera mistreating a physically disabled passenger. The train, which operates between Saharsa and New Delhi, became the scene of an altercation where the guard, identified as Ram Ashish Das, reportedly handled the situation poorly.

The viral video shows the guard aggressively confronting the disabled individual, who was travelling with walking sticks. The guard is seen shouting at the passenger and forcibly attempting to remove him from the train while it was still at the station. The confrontation escalated, with the guard grabbing the passenger by the collar, using abusive language, and calling in a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable to assist in dragging the individual out of the train.

Public Reaction and Calls for Action

The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users condemning the guard's lack of compassion and professionalism. The video has fueled criticism of the Indian Railways' handling of passenger rights and employee conduct.

Need for Immediate Action

Indian Railways must address this incident with urgency. The mistreatment of disabled passengers is unacceptable, and there should be stringent action against those involved. Ensuring respectful and humane treatment for all passengers, particularly those with disabilities, must be a priority for the railway authorities.
