Pune helicopter crash: A tragic helicopter crash in Maharashtra's Pune district early Wednesday morning claimed the lives of three people, including two pilots and an engineer. The helicopter, which had just taken off from a helipad near a golf course in the hilly Bavdhan area, went down around 6:45 am. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft caught fire, leading to a fatal incident.

The helicopter was en route to Mumbai with three people on board: pilots Paramjit Singh and G K Pillai, and engineer Pritam Bharadwaj. Initial reports suggest that the helicopter was owned by Heritage Aviation and was based in Pune, registered under the number VT EVV, as confirmed by local authorities.

Visuals from the crash site reveal the helicopter engulfed in flames, with thick smoke billowing from the wreckage. Responding swiftly, four fire engines from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) were deployed to the scene. Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing as officials work to control the aftermath.

While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, police sources have indicated that dense fog in the area may have contributed to the tragedy.

In a related incident in August, another helicopter, flying from Mumbai to Hyderabad, crashed near Pune’s Paud village. Fortunately, all four passengers survived, though they sustained injuries.

The aviation community and local authorities are now focused on understanding the circumstances behind this most recent crash, as investigations continue.
