Tragic! Class 12 student jumps to death from 22nd floor in Greater Noida West

The family informed police that he was unable to clear the Class 12 exam last year also.

A 19-year-old class 12 student died by suicide on Thursday by jumping off the 22nd floor of a high rise housing complex in Greater Noida West. The deceased was a resident of Mahagun Mywoods, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bisrakh police station. 

What exactly happened? 

According to Police, the deceased took the extreme step at around 4:20 PM on Thursday just after returning home from appearing for his English exam. 

Police also added that the parents of the student were also there and they told that their son had returned home after taking the English Core exam for Class 12 today. After reaching home he went to sit on the terrace of the building at the 22nd floor. The family informed police that he was unable to clear the Class 12 exam last year also. 

Suicide due to board exam pressure

It is a board examination time and the pressure is clearly showing on the 30 million students of the 1.34 lakh higher secondary schools across the country. Students committing suicides are not uncommon. But what has everyone worried is not just the rising numbers taking the extreme step of ending their lives. 

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), One student took their own life every 42 minutes in 2020. In the same year, 11,396 suicides of students below the age of 18 were reported across all of India.
