A five-storey under-construction building collapsed in Kolkatas Garden Reach area on Sunday night leaving ten people dead. Bengal government minister Sujit Bose arrived to inspect the incident site. He said that nine people died after being buried under the debris. However, 17 people have been evacuated safely. Despite having a bandage on his head, the CM visited the incident site along with top officials and took information on it. She also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to families of the victims and Rs 1 lakh each to the injured. “This is an illegal construction,” she said after meeting the injured at a hospital.
