In a tragic incident, five women and three children were killed and 23 persons injured when a goods vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck in Chhattisgarh's Bemetara district on Monday. The condition of 4 of the injured is critical, who have been referred to Raipur AIIMS. The remaining injured are being treated at the District Hospital, Bemtara and Community Health Center of Simga.

The accident happened near village Kathiya petrol pump of Bemetra police station area. All the people were returning from village Tiraiya to their village Patharra after attending a family function. The goods vehicle collided with the parked mini truck on the roadside. District officials arrived at the scene and carried out further investigation.
The official said that the goods vehicle collided with a mini truck parked on the roadside. The deceased have been identified as Bhuri Nishad (50), Neera Sahu (55), Geeta Sahu (60), Aganiya Sahu (60), Khushboo Sahu (39), Madhu Sahu (5), Rickesh Nishad (6) and Twinkle Nishad (6).
BJP MLA Deepesh Sahu reached the district hospital and met the injured. Sahu said that this is a tragic road accident that happened in the district. A car hit a parked vehicle. Nine people have died in this accident. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Those whose condition is critical have been admitted to Raipur AIIMS.
