In a devastating incident, a massive fire engulfed a house in the Baheta area of Loni police station on Wednesday night, resulting in the loss of five lives. Out of the seven individuals present in the house, only a child and a woman managed to escape, albeit with injuries.

The blaze broke out suddenly on the ground floor of the residence, trapping the occupants on the upper floors. The family, headed by 70-year-old Ishtiaq, included his son Shehfur Rehman (35), Shehfur's wife Nadra (27), sister-in-law Fareem (32), Fareem's seven-month-old son Sheesh, Nadra's eight-year-old daughter Iqra, and Nadra's sister Uzma (25). Fortunately, Ishtiaq and another son Sarik were outside the house when the fire erupted.
Prompt response from the police and fire brigade proved crucial as they rushed to the scene upon receiving the distress call. While the fire department battled the flames, bystanders joined forces, extinguishing the fire using buckets of water and ladders from nearby houses.
Despite efforts to rescue the trapped occupants, Uzma was the only one successfully evacuated and rushed to the hospital for treatment. Tragically, the others succumbed to the blaze, including children and elderly members of the family.
Additional Police Commissioner Dinesh Kumar P. confirmed the tragic loss of lives and stated that an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. Initial reports suggest a possible short circuit, though further examination is necessary to ascertain the exact cause.

The inferno not only consumed the household belongings but also destroyed a car parked within the premises. Authorities are diligently working to identify all the victims while grappling with the grief and shock that has gripped the community in the wake of this harrowing incident.
