India’s lander buzzes lightyears away from Russia’s Luna and looks for a landing spot on the moon.

‘All over the moon’ isn’t a distant quote for India now as ISRO’S third lunar mission attempts to locate a safe landing spot on the south hailed as little-explored territory. The lander provided with latest clicks of the moon which began ascending on the south pole region. The last phase of landing began on Thursday.

Is Russia out of the space race?

The pictures came a day after the Russian lander Luna-25 bit the dust crashing on the moon’s surface after it lost its control. Luna was Russia’s first moon mission after 50 years which met its fate while an attempted landing due to losing control and encountering problems it has been over 50 long years since mankind attempted a land and ever since then many countries including our very own diverse one tried to achieve its feet through unmanned missions.

The crash came about a year and a half into Russia’s Ukraine offensive punishing sanctions that have affected its space industry.

Why lunar landing on the moon shall be a real payoff for India?

More than enhancing the pride of the nation, the moon landing cannot only provide us with monetary benefits but along the way put us on a global map with our second attempt on the moon mission. Chandrayaan 3 also places us on the un-taped territory of the moon which progresses us on our space plans and gives us an upper hand from rival space organisations and countries.

The lander awaits!

The lander awaits as it underwent its second and final deboosting operation bringing the module closer to the surface of the moon. According to ISRO, the operation has reduced the orbit of the lander module to 25 km (about 15.53 mi) x 134 km (about 83.26 mi). Isro also stated, “The module would undergo internal checks and await the sunrise at the designated landing site. The spacecraft is healthy, and everything is going as per the plan, officials familiar with the development at the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro)”

Nasa to the aid?

Ever s since the launch of the lander, NASA (national aeronautics and space agency) and ESA (European space agency) have been supporting ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) to monitor the spacecraft’s health

Enough fuel to last years!

In a conversation, the ISRO chairman mentioned, “It has too much fuel, way beyond our expectations. A lot of fuel is left as everything was very nominal on the way to the moon and there were no contingencies requiring correction. We are left with almost all the margins. That’s 150+ kgs.”Reports suggest that ISRO is eyeing a successful mission ahead of the landing as the nation crosses its fingers anticipating another pride owing savvy of the country’s skilful scientists and bringing out the best of the resources.
