New Delhi: A shocking incident has emerged from Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati, where a junior female doctor was assaulted by a patient at the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS). This attack comes at a critical time, following a nationwide outcry for enhanced safety measures for medical professionals in light of the recent brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a hospital in Kolkata.

The sudden and violent outburst triggers an immediate response from nearby medical staff, who quickly rally to their colleague's defense. Through swift teamwork, they successfully subdue the assailant and escort him away from the scene. According to reports, the accused patient was drunk and unconscious, but when he woke up he attacked the junior doctor.

Aftermath of doctor's assault

The doctor was left with physical injuries following the altercation and promptly received medical care to address them. She is now in the process of recuperating from the traumatic experience, focusing on her physical recovery and well-being.

The SVIMS Junior Doctors Association expressed their condemnation of the incident, saying, "We call upon the authorities to take immediate and decisive action against the perpetrators of this crime. It is crucial that a thorough investigation be conducted, and justice be swiftly delivered to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. We also urge the authorities to enhance its safety protocols and support systems to protect its students and staff."
