The controversy around Tirupati laddus began when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy administration of using substandard ingredients, including fish oil and beef tallow, in the ghee used to prepare the prasadams. Lab reports confirmed these allegations, leading to the cancellation of contracts with companies supplying ghee. Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has also mandated that only Nandini ghee be used in temples across the state.
