Mumbai: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer displayed exceptional bravery by saving a passenger from a near-fatal accident at Andheri railway station on Sunday. The dramatic rescue unfolded on platform number eight as the Lok Shakti Express was departing the station.

According to officials, the incident occurred when a commuter attempted to board the moving train but lost his balance. The passenger slipped and got trapped in the narrow gap between the train and the platform, creating a life-threatening situation.

Quick action by RPF officer prevents tragedy

RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Pahup Singh, who was on duty at the time, sprang into action upon witnessing the perilous situation. Acting swiftly, he pulled the passenger to safety, preventing what could have been a tragic accident.

The passenger has been identified as 40-year-old Rajendra Mangilal, a resident of Andheri’s Seven Bungalows area. Mangilal later admitted that he had arrived late at the station and, in a desperate attempt to catch his train to Ahmedabad, tried to board the moving Lok Shakti Express.

Following the incident, railway officials reiterated the dangers of attempting to board moving trains and urged passengers to exercise caution while commuting. The timely intervention by the RPF highlights the critical role of railway security personnel in ensuring passenger safety.
