New Delhi: In a gunfight, three terrorists met their end in a forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district during a fierce encounter with security forces on Wednesday. The operation, which commenced at around 9:50 AM in Bajaad village, Gandoh area, marked an escalated phase in the ongoing efforts to curb terrorist activities in the region. According to reports, the security forces launched a search and cordon operation following recent terrorist assaults on June 11 and 12 in the hilly district. These attacks left several security personnel injured.
The first incident on June 11 involved a coordinated attack on a joint check post at Chattargalla, injuring six security personnel. Subsequently, on June 12, a gunfight erupted at Kota top in Gandoh, resulting in injuries to a policeman. These events prompted security forces to intensify their efforts, focusing on neutralizing threats posed by infiltrated terrorists.

In response to the twin attacks, security operations intensified, with authorities offering a substantial cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for each of the four suspected Pakistani terrorists reportedly involved in the disturbances. The focus shifted to Sinoo panchayat, where a joint team of police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) encountered fierce resistance from the terrorists hiding in the area.
As the security forces closed in on the terrorists in Sinoo panchayat, the militants opened fire, leading to an intense exchange that continued for several hours. Reports indicate that amidst this firefight, three terrorists were successfully neutralized by the security personnel. The operation is underway.
